Little Takayama Village in Northern Nagano’s Five Great Sakura

The little northern-Nagano village of Takayama boasts five giant solo cherry blossom trees. You drive up narrow lanes in between farmhouses and rice fields, among apple orchards and quiet residential neighborhoods, and in five separate valleys you come to a massive cherry tree. With a history of up to 600 years, the trees are as large as 22 meters tall.
