Wasabizuke-Making Lesson at Daio Wasabi Farm
Daio Wasabi Farm : 大王わさび農場
Tour the Wasabi Farm and Learn How to Cook with Wasabi.
Matsumoto/Northern Alps
Description
Curious about wasabi? Interested in learning new ways to use it in cooking besides on sushi? Visit the Daio Wasabi Farm and see the fascinating way wasabi is grown, and take a cooking lesson to learn how to make "Wasabizuke", a dish made of wasabi leaves, wasabi stems and sake lees.
Recommendation
Wasabi requires pristine water to grow. The famous Daio Wasabi Farm cultivates wasabi plants using crystal clear snow-melt from the northern Japanese Alps. Tour the wasabi fields and see the care that goes into growing wasabi. Then, learn more about the uses of wasabi by taking a quick cooking lesson in making "Wasabizuke". The steps include dicing the wasabi root, cutting up the wasabi stems, pounding the wasabi to release the spiciness, kneeding it with sake lees, then packaging it to take home, one for you to enjoy and one to give to a friend.
